The Millchester Challenge – NQORA Short Course Off Road Racing

Townsville Amateur Radio Club provided volunteer communications support for the Millchester Challenge — Round 2 of the North Queensland Off-Road Super Series — run by NQORA at the Millchester Motor Sports Facility near Charters Towers on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July.

The crew rolled in Friday to set up camp for the weekend, with the HF gear warming up over the campfire chat once the sun went down. Saturday kicked off with a Prologue lap, followed by eight heats of flat-out, one-lap dashes — plenty of dust, plenty of fun, and a couple of genuinely chilly mornings on the radios. Four cars started; three made it to the finish.
